Heathrow Airport handled 80.1 million passengers in 2018. This record feat required 76,000 people, working for 400 companies across the campus, making it the second busiest airport in the world.

With an ambitious transformation programme to deliver amid a heavily unionised environment, strong communications are vital at the airport. Accordingly, Heathrow’s Director of Communications approached HarknessKennett to source a Head of Internal Communications; a critical hire for the organisation.

Our candidate – Richard Walden – was successful in securing the role and started with Heathrow in May 2018. With a strong background of leading communications in a variety of sectors, Richard brought a wealth of experience, and he has embraced the dynamic environment of Heathrow’s 24/7 operations.

“The role at Heathrow was everything I was looking for, and being able to lead an ambitious team during this exciting period for the airport has been a rewarding period for me professionally. HarknessKennett was very supportive to me as a candidate in my search for my next role, and in Heathrow they found the perfect cultural fit for me.”
