A dedicated role to professionalise and modernise internal communications
Travis Perkins plc is the UK’s largest distributor of building materials and a leading partner to the construction industry, with over 20,000 employees across the group’s builders’ merchant and retail businesses.
We helped Travis Perkins to find Matthew Ainsworth, an experienced internal and change communications specialist, to come in on an interim basis to fill a newly created role as dedicated group-wide internal communications lead.
Matt has identified a strategic approach and campaign-led framework to connect colleagues to the group’s new strategy, purpose and values. He has also worked with the team to deliver improvements to planning, channels and newsflow – as well as partnering with senior stakeholders to support the communication of financial results, and key commercial and people priorities, including the Group’s ESG and DE&I programmes.
“We needed the right person to elevate Group internal communications and show us what good looks like. Matt’s strategic thinking and a knowledge of best practice have been invaluable over the past year. He has enabled us to improve delivery and ways of working within the function and has laid a solid foundation for us to build on for our future internal communications operating model and channel strategy.”
