A fixed term contractor to support a developing team
At HarknessKennett we pride ourselves on providing services that people want to come back to. Nicola Marsden has been a client for over 10 years and across three different organisations; we’ve been delighted to support her with both our consultancy and resourcing services.
When Nicola joined Unite Group plc in April this year, mid-pandemic, we were keen to keep in touch and offer support where we could. Nicola has spent the last few months getting to grips with the challenges of the UK’s leading provider of student accommodation. She has also set about developing her communications team and supporting the organisation with the unique set of challenges that 2020 brought during lockdown and the return of students to university this Autumn.
Whilst looking for someone to join Nicola’s permanent team as a senior communications manager, we also supported her in finding an interim contractor. This role was to begin the work of engaging and enthusing colleagues in the company’s refreshed values and helping to motivate colleagues after a challenging summer period and uncertain start to the academic year. This required a hire with fresh ideas and drive who understood a fast moving consumer environment.
Maria has broad sector experience and excellent credentials in purpose and communication strategy development and delivery. Her energy and passion for creating healthy, happy workplaces where people can be authentic, engage with the organisational culture and connect with their purpose was exactly what Nicola was looking for.
We were very pleased to be able to connect Nicola and Maria particularly during such a challenging period!
“I’ve worked with HarknessKennett for many years and have always found they put forward interesting and quality candidates. They’ve consistently delivered hire who’ve not only been a good culture and experience fit, but also able to hit the ground running. I think what’s different about them is that as internal communication consultants as well as recruiters, they really know what works.”
Nicola Marsden, Director of Communications, The Unite Group plc
