Future proofing IC to support change

Committed to making a positive and lasting difference in the world, and driven by a desire to serve God, World Vision has become a global leader in improving and transforming the lives of children, their families and their communities. Employing around 33,000 people in over 100 countries, internal communication plays a critical role.

With a backdrop of change, there was a requirement to undertake a review of internal communications from the Global Centre Internal Communication team, reviewing both roles and contribution as well as effectiveness of current communication channels to ensure the Global Centre IC team supports the work and priorities of World Vision.

HarknessKennett worked with the Global Director, Corporate Communications and an experienced World Vision project team to undertake the review and provide an independent perspective of the contribution of the central Global Internal Communications team, glean stakeholder perspectives as well as feedback on the effectiveness of the channels, communication tools and practices currently in use, and provide recommendations for change. Given tight timescales, we held over 40 in-depth interviews and hosted an online survey to gather both quantitative and qualitative feedback. As well as qualitative and quantitative feedback from the internal audiences, we shared recommendations for improvement based on best practice and a prioritised timeline for implementation.

“After a significant period of change, it was timely to take stock of internal communications and the value the team adds. I knew we had an excellent Internal Communications team. HarknessKennett have been able to validate that and, as an independent organisation, work with me and the project team on futureproofing internal communications at World Vision. The feedback and recommendations are enabling us to build a better and more sustainable approach to internal communications.”
